An observation on St. Nicholas' Day

I cannot find it at their website, so it must have been in the "headlines" rather than in a story about the trial of Saddam Hussein, but on Morning Edition this morning the NPR reporter noted two questions put to a witness who testified to torture in Abu Ghraib under Hussein's rule. The witness testified to being stripped naked, humiliated, and beaten. The two questions:

"Where any dogs present?" No.

"Were any pictures taken?" No.

We've done it. We are worse than the tyrant we deposed.

"A voyce from heven to erth shall com;
'Venite ad iudicium.' "
